The Royal Church of St. John the Baptist

In the historic center of the city stands the Royal Church of St. John the Baptist, built between 1497 and 1498, as indicated by the inscription at the entrance:

“The pious and Christ-loving Prince Stephen began, built, and completed this church in the name of the birth of the honorable and glorious prophet John the Baptist and Forerunner, at the request of himself and his wife Maria and their beloved son Bogdan Voivode, which began to be built in the year 7005 (1497) on July 15 and was completed in the year 7006 (1498) and the 40th and second year of his reign, on November 11."

Without a doubt, this church is on the short list of iconic places in Piatra-Neamț, being the starting point (along with the entire Royal Court complex) for any tourist heading to all corners of the world.
