The Youth Theater in Piatra Neamt, considered an important exponent of the cultural life of the municipality, began its activity in 1958 as the Piatra Neamt branch of the State Theater in Bacau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The efforts of the great Ion Coman, the theater's first director and a prominent figure in Romanian theater, led to the establishment of the theater as an independent institution under the name of the State Theater of Piatra Neam\u021b in 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The name that made him famous came a few years later, thanks to the efforts of Ion Coman himself, who, after participating in the Youth and Children's Theater Festival in Nuremberg, was inspired by the name of a German stage where they were to perform the play \"Afar\u0103-i vopsit gardu', Inside, There's a Leopard.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thus, in 1967, the theater in Piatra Neam\u021b was renamed the Youth Theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Known in the theater world before 1989 as \"the Piatra-Neam\u021b phenomenon,\" the Youth Theater served as a true launching pad for young artists, with many big names in Romanian theater making their debut here: Hora\u021biu M\u0103l\u0103iele, Maia Morgenstern, Virgil Og\u0103\u0219anu, Oana Pelea, Florin Persic, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building in which the theater operates was constructed between 1929 and 1947, based on the plans of architect Roger Bolomey from Bucharest, with Carol Zane as the contractor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
