Lake B\u00e2tca Doamnei is located at an altitude of 325 meters and is an important area of the city of Piatra Neam\u021b. In addition to its purpose of protecting against floods during the rainy season, it also has a strong tourist appeal, offering visitors wonderful views. From here, you can admire the panorama of the city on one side and Mount Ceahl\u0103u in all its splendor on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Formed in 1962 by damming the Bistrita River and building a levee on the left side of a section of the river's major bed, Lake Batca Doamnei has an area of 235 ha, a maximum length of 3,200 m, a maximum width of 1,050 m, and a maximum depth of 15.5 m. It is fed by water from the Izvoru Muntelui-Bicaz dam lake, through the adduction channel of the Stejaru Hydroelectric Power Plant, to which is added the Doamna stream, a right tributary of the lake, and the old course of the Bistrita River, which has a very low flow.
Very close to the lake is the hill of the same name, Batca Doamnei, where the ruins of the Dacian Fortress can be found. This man-made lake, along with the Pangarati and Vaduri lakes, is a special area for birds migrating along the eastern Carpathian corridor and is an important link in preserving biodiversity and natural habitats for the entire eastern part of the European continent. Due to its large surface area, the lake provides wintering conditions for a large number of birds. In recent years, populations of black-necked grebes, red-necked grebes, great crested grebes, little grebes, and little grebes have wintered on this lake. In addition to these species, in November, great cormorants can be seen on Lake Batca Doamnei, stopping here during their migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
